The Grieneisen Lab studies longitudinal microbiome dynamics within a behavioral ecology context. Our goals are to understand how an animal’s genes, social behaviors, and ecology affects the composition of its gut microbiome; quantify microbial temporal and spatial variaton; and link microbial traits to host health outcomes.

To explore these questions, we work in a range of wild animal systems in British Columbia and beyond.
